MEAT FOR ALL.

In Italy we are 60 million people and consume about a hundred pounds of meat apiece, mostly as in Europe and the United States . And so to satisfy our appetites about 500 million chickens slaughtered each year, 4 million cattle and 13 million pigs, but not enough for us because we import the rest. But we live on planet Earth in 6 billion and a half now and already many are starving, others who would like the meat but they can not afford it. In a few years will become 10 billion, you can produce meat for everyone? Some say that it would be suicide on the planet. FAO, UN, the IPCC warns that 18% of the greenhouse gases that fuel climate change is the result of the herds, which beat all other human activities, including emissions of the entire fleet on the planet. To produce a kilo of beef is consumed 15,000 liters of water and grain to ten times the weight of the animal - cereals that could feed many more people - not enough. Over half the antibiotics produced are used for livestock use. The disease in factory farms increase, but then also increase strains of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and human disease by being as coronary heart disease, diabetes, 'obesity also result from excessive consumption of animal foods. Not to mention the problem of sewage and mountains of excrement that pollute the waters and we do not know where to put. The paradox is that the more you produce meat at low cost, thanks to this model of industrialized farming, and the higher the cost to the environment, and agriculture is the first casualty of an economic paradigm that no longer holds. Yet solutions do exist, however, should be implemented now, before it is too late. WATCH THE EPISODE 'MEAT FOR ALL'.
